How to Play Mahjong Solitaire
Mahjong Solitaire is a one-player tile-matching game. 144 tiles are stacked in the classic Turtle formation. Your goal is to remove all tiles by matching identical free pairs.
The Goal
Remove all 144 tiles from the board by selecting matching pairs. Both tiles in a pair must be free. The game is won when the board is empty.
What is a Free Tile?
A tile is free when two conditions are met: (1) no tile is stacked on top of it, and (2) it is open on its left or right side — meaning no adjacent tile on the same layer on at least one side.
Tile Types & Matching
The full set uses 144 tiles: nine Circles (1–9), nine Bamboo (1–9), nine Characters (1–9), four Winds (East, South, West, North), three Dragons (Red, Green, White), four Seasons, and four Flowers. Most tiles match only identical pairs. Exception: any two Season tiles match each other, and any two Flower tiles match each other.
Controls
- Click a free tile to select it (highlighted in gold).
- Click a second free tile with the same type to remove the pair.
- Click the selected tile again to deselect it.
- Undo steps back one matched pair at a time.

Daily Puzzle
Each day a new board is generated from today’s date — the same board for every player worldwide. The timer starts when you click your first tile. Complete the board to submit your time to the leaderboard.
